Charleston Marina Receives Perfect Score in Clean Marina Inspection

Charleston Marina, part of the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay received a perfect score on their Clean Marina Inspection.

The Oregon Clean Marina program, started in 2005, is managed by the Oregon State Marine Board. The voluntary program encourages marinas to incorporate best management practices for preventing pollution and reducing waste including areas such as solid waste management, stormwater management, and abandoned vessel prevention and disposal.

Charleston Marina has participated in the program since 2007 taking part in periodic inspections to maintain their clean marina status. Going above the criteria for clean marina, the facility also replaced a diesel truck with two electric cars and added new LED lighting fixtures throughout the complex.

Environmental stewardship and sustainable economic development are key tenets of the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay.
