Michigan marina wins city budget approval for renovation project

The Harbor Spring, Mich., city council approved a budget calling for the renovation of the city’s marina that is $40,000 more than the 2008 original estimate, according to a Sept. 22 Petoskey (Mich.) News-Review report.

The city council approved $117,619 for a bathroom renovation project, along with a 10 percent contingency increase. Harbor Commission Chairman Jim Bartlett said the renovation of the bathroom was necessary to bring the facility in line with the rest of the marina.

The bathroom renovation will include new tile surfaces for the floors, walls, and showers, new water efficient plumbing fixtures, new lighting and improved ventilation, and paint on the unfinished walls.

Funds for the renovation project are available in the city’s waterfront fund and a work schedule calls for the renovation to be completed by next spring.
