MIASF Will Host a Free Seminar on Foreign Trade Zones

The Marine Industries Association of South Florida is hosting a free seminar during this year’s Refit International Exhibition & Conference, to share information on Florida’s new Free Trade Zones. The event held, Thursday, January 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. will provide answers on how yachts, suppliers and OEM’s can take advantage of these new duty-free regions.

In November, the MIASF was given approval by the Foreign Trade Zone Board and the City of Fort Lauderdale, to establish a 13-site recreational marine FTZ. Businesses that are in the FTZ can now defer, reduce or eliminate Customs duties on foreign products since any foreign or domestic material moved into an FTZ is not subject to U.S. Customs duties. This will provide more financial savings, increased flexibility and should help to create more jobs.
