Suntex Wins Bid to Redevelop Las Olas Marina

The city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has selected Suntex Marina Investors, LLC to redevelop Las Olas Marina and operate the facility under a 50-year lease.

Suntex has partnered with Edgewater Resources, LLC, a marina design, engineering and development firm, to undertake the multi-million-dollar project. The team plans to design and manage using the guidelines of the Florida Clean Marina program to ensure environmental compatibility and sustainability. Early plans for the surrounding area call for a promenade with food and drink options for the public.

“We would like to leverage our investment to create the greatest possible benefit for as many people in the community as we can,” said David Filler, principal of Suntex. “This means recognizing that this marina must serve more than just the owners of megayachts. We must do our part to add jobs to the community, benefit the environment and build on the remarkable success Fort Lauderdale has already achieved in creating an inviting, walkable and vibrant waterfront community.”

The marina is just part of a $70 million redevelopment plan by the city, which is to include new parking facilities and sidewalks, as well as waterfront and beach access.
