U.S. Secretary of Interior Establishes Recreation Advisory Committee

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke has established a new Recreation Advisory Committee to provide guidance on means to improve infrastructure and accessibility on public lands and waterways through public-private partnerships.

The advisory committee will advise on programs and policies that include fee collection methods and strategies, use of technology and other tools to provide better visitor experiences, and means to develop public-private partnerships.

Prospective committee members should have an understanding of how to provide visitor experiences, how to use public-private partnerships or be knowledgeable about recreational equipment and infrastructure needs. The plan is to have a committee with diverse backgrounds and experiences in the recreational industry.

The committee will meet two times per year or as needed and will terminate after two years. Nominations for the committee and/or comments should be sent to Teri Austin, associate director for business services, National Park Service, Office of Business Services, 1849 C Street, NW, MS 2717, Washington, DC 20240; or email nominations to: teresa_austin@nps.gov.
