MTA/NJ Hands Out Scholarships

The Marine Trades Association of New Jersey (MTA/NJ) handed out awards to aspiring marine trades workers. The association awarded its annual $1,500 Family Scholarship to Thomas Beaton, who will be attending Providence College in Rhode Island. Beaton’s family owns David Beaton & Sons Boat Yard. The annual award is offered to MTA/NJ members’ children and its employees’ children for any higher education program. The MTA/NJ also awarded an outstanding student award for the purchase of tools for the trade to Robert Ziegenfuss from the Ocean County Vocational Technical School.

The Automotive Training Center in Warminster, Pennsylvania, sponsored a half scholarship to its Marine Technician Program to Royal Parks, who plans to become a marine mechanic. The Marine Technician Program is administered and promoted by MTA/NJ.

In further support of workforce development, the MTA/NJ Foundation is working on marine training reimbursements, industry certification courses, and on-site and in-classroom education and training for its members and employees.
