$5.5 Million Overhaul Transforms Florida Marina

The Treo Group, a real estate investment firm, has announced the completion of Regatta Harbour Marina, in Coconut Grove, Florida, which features new dry storage racks, launching areas and docks for transient boaters. The company invested $5.5 million to transform the former site of the Grove Key Marina into a state-of-the-art marina facility.

After demolishing the existing facilities, the owners strategically reconfigured the property, placing the new marina at the north of the property, perpendicular to the waterfront. The new layout allows the marina to accommodate more vessels and provides better access to Biscayne Bay for its customers. BDI Construction was the general contractor for the dry storage facilities, with Everglades Steel supplying the steel and Advanced Mechanical handling the steel erection.

Regatta Harbour Marina includes dry storage for more than 400 vessels. (It is already fully occupied and there is a waiting list.) The marina has also introduced an app-based scheduling system that enables boaters to board their vessels more quickly after they arrive at the marina.

AccuDock built three new floating docks for the marina. Two will be used for launching and the other, with three finger piers, provides 700 linear feet of docks for transient boaters. The owners are also upgrading the fueling station, so the marina will be able to serve boaters more effectively.

The marina’s renovation is the first part of a 9.5-acre mixed-use project, Regatta Harbour, that will one day offer more than 100,000 square feet of specialty retail and upscale restaurants. The project will also preserve and renovate historic airplane hangars that were used in the early 1900s as the first continental Naval air station.

“The completion of Regatta Harbour’s initial phase signifies a milestone for not only for the project, but also for the Coconut Grove neighborhood, which hasn’t seen major changes to its waterfront in decades and is long-known for its active boating community,” said Otto Boudet-Murias, principal of The TREO Group.
