Transpac Marinas Announced Scholarship for Marine Tech Program

The Dick Nelson Memorial Scholarship Fund has been created by Transpac Marinas to support students in Skagit Valley College’s Marine Technology Program. 

Nelson, co-founder of Anacortes shipbuilder Dakota Creek Industries, died in 2021. 

Transpac Marinas, an Anacortes company that builds marina floats and grated decking, put $25,000 into the new scholarship fund. In addition to continuing Nelson’s legacy in the marine industry, the company wants to increase awareness of the college program’s contributions to the marine industry in Anacortes.
