Expansion and Upgrades at Iowa Marina

A short drive north of Des Moines, Saylorville Lake remains one of Iowa’s premier boating destinations. Owned and operated by Suntex Marinas, Saylorville Lake Marina will soon become even more of a community hub thanks to new improvements to its upland facilities and amenities. One of the larger updates in the new master plan is the complete interior overhaul of a gathering place aptly named “The Bridge,” which opened last October.

Previously, this space within the marina’s store and service building was the Fleetwood restaurant. The Bridge has been reimagined into a new captain’s lounge complete with three shower stalls, a clean-up area for boaters and space for relaxation and games such as air hockey and Foosball. It offers plenty of tables and bar areas for guests, a business center and an outdoor patio complete with barbecue and yard area.

Also on the horizon is a new dry storage building slated for completion and grand opening this December. Other planned renovations include all new docks and platforms in the 100-dock area, including entirely new Circle of Boating slips for the rentals and boat club, a new marine and rental store on the docks, a new storage shed for equipment and towables for the rentals and an all-new restaurant and grill, set to debut next summer. In addition to the restaurant and bar on the dock, a new multi-purpose snack shop will also open next year for guests and visitors to the marina. Other improvements include a covered roof for slips on the 600-dock and electrical upgrades on several docks.
