NMMA Releases Canadian Economic Report
Published on August 1, 2025The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has released its 2024 Canadian Economic Factoids report , offering a detailed look at national economic indicators from 2011 through 2024, now available as part of the annual Canadian Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract.
In 2024, Canada’s economy continued its expansion with modest but steady progress. Real GDP grew by 1.6% to $2.4 trillion, marking the fourth consecutive year of growth, while disposable income surged 7.5% to $1.7 trillion, outpacing gains from the previous two years. Personal expenditure climbed 2.4% to $1.4 trillion, with growth in all four quarters, signaling persistent consumer activity.
Confidence metrics diverged: Consumer sentiment fell to an average of 65.6, remaining below 70 for most of the year. Business confidence edged higher to 74, peaking in the spring quarter.
The report also highlights positive movement in the recreational boating sector. Nearly 162,300 pleasure craft operator cards were issued in 2024, a 2.2% increase year-over-year, led by Ontario and Quebec. Notably, Nova Scotia posted the strongest provincial gain at 15.8%.
