Antigua Marina Offers Expanded Catamaran Service and Storage

Jolly Harbour Marina, located on the leeward Caribbean island of Antigua, has expanded its catamaran service and dockage. With a six-member team holding 80 years of combined experience, Jolly Harbour has offered marina services to the west side of Antigua since 1993. A wave of new demand for catamaran service and storage prompted the marina to construct 80-foot twin piers and develop a dedicated catamaran storage yard. A new self-propelled 40-ton Marine Travelift transporter equipped with external catamaran arms, designed specifically to streamline catamaran handling, will accompany the facility’s existing 85-ton Marine Travelift boat hoist, strengthening the team’s catamaran haul-out and storage capability.

The adjustable catamaran arms on the Travelift allow for transport of various catamaran hull designs without additional rigging. As a result, haul-out of the broad hull vessels has increased efficiency while optimizing available storage space. The Jolly Harbour team can manage vessels from 23- to 28-foot beams with the transporter. The team noted they have successfully accommodated 37 catamarans, filling the yard right up to the gates. While the objective was to find a dual-purpose solution capable of handling both catamarans and monohulls, the transporter’s versatility enables the team to efficiently service a wide range of vessels.
