Terra Mater Partners with Hyperfuels to Distribute Low-Carbon, Ethanol-Free Fuel

Terra Mater BV and Hyperfuels LLC announced at the International Fuel Ethanol Workshop a strategic collaboration to expand distribution of Terrox, a low-carbon, ethanol-free fuel blend component designed for marine markets along the U.S. East Coast.

The partnership brings together Terra Mater’s low-carbon oxygenate patented 2X technology and Hyperfuels’ specialty fuel distribution network to serve boaters, marina operators and marine dealers seeking practical fuel solutions that support sustainability goals without requiring changes to existing fueling infrastructure.

Terrox is formulated to blend with gasoline and burn more cleanly than conventional gasoline, helping reduce smog-forming compounds and harmful air toxins. Because it contains no ethanol, the product is also designed to help reduce moisture absorption and phase separation, two common fuel issues that can affect boat engines, storage tanks and seasonal fuel performance.

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has recognized the value of drop-in sustainable marine fuels that work with existing recreational boat engines and fueling systems, and the companies said Terrox is intended to fit that profile when blended into gasoline. NMMA has also highlighted the category of sustainable marine fuels as a practical path for reducing emissions in recreational boating without requiring boaters to modify engines or fuel systems.

Terra Mater’s production facility at North Sea Port in Belgium combined with partners worldwide is positioned to supply the initial volumes of Terrox, with plans to produce approximately 6,000 metric tons per year. The companies said they also see opportunity to support local U.S. production in the future as demand develops.

The initial marine rollout is expected in Q3 2026, with the companies targeting marina operators, marine dealers, and specialty fuel distributors along the East Coast.
