Below Deck Mediterranean Star Launches Maritime Educational Charity

Below Deck Mediterranean star Captain Sandy Yawn is taking her passion for the maritime industry beyond reality TV with Captain Sandy’s Charities, a nonprofit bringing the fully accredited maritime education program, Steering Toward Success, into U.S. schools.

Originally launched in Florida and now expanding nationally, the STEM-based curriculum introduces students to ocean advocacy, boating safety and high-paying marine careers — both at sea and on land — including trades like welding, carpentry and marine electrical work. Fueled by demand from fans seeking industry access, Captain Sandy’s mission is clear: “We’re opening doors for kids who never knew this world existed — and giving them real career pathways,” Captain Sandy says on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast.
