Bertha Boatworks Designated MN Clean Marina

Bertha Boatworks has been designated a Minnesota Clean Marina The facility was certified on March 12 following a site visit by the secretary and treasurer of the Minnesota Clean Marina Program, Rick Chapman, general manager of Sunnyside Marina and Glenn Bowman, general manager of Afton Marina.

The marina met 100 percent of the required and 85 percent of the optional best management practices for its operation. Facilities must meet 65 percent of the optional practices to qualify as a Clean Marina.

Bertha Boatworks is a full-service marina and authorized South Bay, Mercury Marine and Yamaha marine dealer in Pequot Lakes on the Whitefish Chain of Lakes. The company has a full sales, service and parts department along with rental boats and storage. The business opened in 1977.

The Minnesota Clean Marina program is managed by a group of volunteer marina operators who are dedicated to keeping the waters of the state clean and encouraging marinas to be environmental stewards. The program asks marinas to voluntarily self-evaluate their facilities to ensure they are in compliance with mandatory best management practices and also to adopt many of the optional practices.
