Boston Marine Services Called to Repair Indian Navy Tall Ship

Boston Marine Services recently completed repairs to the INS Sudarshini, a 177-foot-long training tall ship of the Indian Navy. The Sudarshini was one of the dozens of tall ships from around the world that visited Boston for the city’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The Sudarshini spent six months at sea traveling across the Atlantic Ocean and up the East Coast before arriving in Boston.

Following their stay, the crew of the Sudarshini began the voyage back across the Atlantic Ocean bound for the Azores. Before departing, the crew contacted Boston Marine Services for repairs and maintenance to the ship to ensure a safe passage. The scope of the project included repairs to the vessel’s teak decks and grates, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems work, refinishing the upper deck with a three-coat varnish application and installing the vessel’s swan figurehead and name board. Every aspect of the project was coordinated and completed in time for the ship’s scheduled departure.

The project also highlights the importance of marine service capabilities within the Port of Boston.
