Dock Replacement at Des Moines Marina

Halfway between Seattle and Tacoma on the Puget Sound, the Des Moines Marina recently broke ground on the dock replacement phase of its marina renovations. At an estimated cost of $10 million, this phase will replace the marina’s existing L, M and N docks, with slip sizes ranging from 36 to 52 feet.

With each dock replacement on a 4- to 6-week schedule, construction is slated for completion in February 2026. It’s been more than 50 years since the marina has undergone such noteworthy upgrades to its docks.

The marina has developed a draft master plan, which includes two other phases of dock replacements to overhaul the F, G, H, I, J, K docks (phase 2) and the A, B, C, D, E docks (phase 3). Other phases of the draft master plan scheduled in the future include new restrooms, replacement of the seawall and overhaul of existing power and water infrastructure.
