ICOMIA Releases Smart Marinas Guide

The ICOMIA Marinas Group (IMG), has produced a Smart Marinas Guide, produced by IMG members to assist marinas in navigating the digital transformation of the industry. The preface for the guide states, “Smart infrastructure, and consequently a smart marina, is the result of combining physical infrastructure with digital infrastructure, providing improved information to enable better, faster, and cheaper decision making.” 

This first draft explores why marinas should adopt smart technology and the definition for “smart.” It looks at the future of marinas, why digital transformation matters, and what marinas can start doing now to prepare themselves for future technological advances.  

The completion of this first draft also kicks off the process for future work that will be needed on regulation, policy, and best practices. Feedback to this document and how it impacts different areas of the marina industry will guide further work on how marinas can harness technology.
