Largest Public Access Floating Dock System Installed in Pennsylvania

Cross Creek Park is now home to the largest all-composite public access floating dock system in the nation, according to the American Muscle Dock & Fabrication website, manufacturer of the recent dock system installation.

Owned and maintained by Pennsylvania’s Washington County Parks and Recreation, the docks will be known as “Discovery Cove,” a new feature within the county’s largest park. Just a half-hour southwest of Pittsburgh on scenic Cross Creek Lake, the docks will allow for safe and easy public access for all lake users. The system is composed of six gangways and three 60- by 20-foot platforms connected by 520 feet of walkway that runs lengthwise along the shoreline for a total of 7,820 square feet of dock area.

With decking made of Owens-Corning RFP material and Eagle Floats, the system is “the closest thing to no maintenance” that American Muscle has ever fabricated. The decking carries a 25-year commercial warranty, and the Eagle Floats have a 15-year warranty. Design and assembly of the dock system, including manufacture of the six gangways, was performed by West Virginia-based American Muscle. Pennsylvania-based Beaver Marina Construction performed the dock installation. The project was led by American Muscle Senior Sales Representative Captain Marc Hannah.
