Legendary Marina Wins Safety Awards

Legendary Marina of Destin, Florida, has received the Sunshine State Safety Recognition Award and has been accepted into the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP). The Safety Recognition Award is administered by the University of South Florida’s SafetyFlorida. It is awarded to employers and employees who proactively engage in job safety. An on-site evaluation is performed as well as a review company safety rules and training practices.

The SHARP program, administered by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), rewards businesses that have exemplary safety programs and injury and illness rates below the national average for that industry. Businesses must also have used OSHA’s On-Site Consultation program.

“It’s not easy to get into the SHARP program,” said Jeremy Holcomb, vice president of operations for the Legendary Boating Company. “Only twelve businesses in Florida carry the SHARP designation, and we are one of only three marinas in the nation to have received the SHARP designation.”

Legendary Marina includes sales or pre-owned and new boats, a full-service department, a 780-slip drystack facility for boats from 15 to 50 feet and an on-site restaurant. The company also manages the Legendary Boating Club and Legendary Yacht Club.
