Maryland Announces Latest Clean Marinas

Maryland’s Clean Marina program announced that the following marinas and boatyards have maintained their Clean Marina certifications during late 2021 and early 2022:

  1. Annapolis City Marina (Since 2006)
  2. Herrington Harbour Marinas (Since 2000)
  3. Horn Point Harbor (Since 2017)
  4. Inner Harbor Marina  (Since 2012)
  5. Saefern Community Marina (Since 2003)
  6. Safe Harbor Great Oak Landing(First time under Safe Harbor ownership)
  7. Skipjack Cove Yachting Resort (Since 2003)
  8. Sunset Marina (Since 2003)

These marinas and boatyards exceed the regulations that apply to their operations, adopt additional best practices to prevent pollution, and voluntarily participate in a site inspection with DNR every three years.  Examples of clean marina practices include maintaining spill response kits, recycling liquid and/or solid waste, and boater education. Visit our website to learn the steps to becoming certified  or find free boater education information.

To encourage more marinas to become certified, Clean Marina seminars will be held on March 2, 3, and 10 to share information with managers and owners of Maryland marine facilities on:

  • Becoming certified as a Maryland Clean Marina
  • Stormwater management and living shoreline programs and funding
  • New fuel tank regulations
  • The 2022 reissue of the General Discharge Permit for boatyards.

Advanced registration is required and space is limited. Details are available here and registration is available online.
