Maryland Certifies Clean Marinas

Two facilities earned the Maryland Clean Marina Award. Solomons Landing Marina and Kent Narrows Boatel met the award criteria and passed a site inspection, bringing the total number of Clean Marinas and Clean Marina Partners to 147. This is roughly a quarter of the marinas in Maryland.

Twelve marinas have renewed their Clean Marina certifications for another three years. These facilities have maintained their commitment to both regulatory requirements and environmental best practices and have passed another site inspection:

  • Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, St. Michael’s
  • Chesapeake Harbour Marina, Annapolis
  • Worton Creek Marina, Chestertown
  • Mears Point Marina, Grasonville
  • Whitehall Marina & Hinckley Yacht Service, Annapolis
  • Bahia Marina, Ocean City
  • Hances Point Yacht Club, North East
  • Knapps Narrows Marina, Tilghman Island
  • Queenstown Harbor Community Pier
  • Riverside Marina, Essex
  • St. Michael’s Marina
  • Sunset Harbor Marina, Ocean City

To entice more marinas to certify, the Clean Marina program holds annual seminars as an introduction to the program, as well as a format for select speakers to present topics of interest to marinas and boatyards in general. The tentative dates and locations for the 2020 seminars are: February 5 in Abingdon, February 11 in Cambridge and February 13 in Annapolis.

Invitations with complete information will be sent to marinas by mail in January and posted on the program web page.
