Members Named To the “Made in America” Outdoor Recreation Advisory Committee

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke announced the members of the “Made in America” Outdoor Recreation Advisory Committee. The committee serves as an advisory board to the Secretary of Interior on public-private partnerships for public lands. Its goals is to expand access to and improve infrastructure on public lands and waterways. Members represent organizations and businesses in recreational fishing, such as the Fly Fishing Trade Association and Shimano, camping, parks and tourism, and more. The will provide recommendations on implementing a fair and efficient fee collection and disbursement process, improving visitor infrastructure, and enhancing the use of technology for interpretation.

Created in November 2017, the Made in America Outdoor Recreation Advisory Committee, was championed by the newly formed Outdoor Recreation Roundtable. Chairman of that group and president of the National Marine Manufacturers Association, Thom Dammrich said in a statement, “We want our leaders to advance policies that will improve the experience of Americans as they enjoy the great outdoors and conserve public resources for future generations. Today is an important step towards meeting those goals, and we appreciate the Interior Department for formalizing this Committee. And ORR wants to reassure all recreation interests that whether they are directly represented on the Committee or not, ORR will work tirelessly to give all recreation interests access to and a strong voice with the Committee and the Administration.”
