New Docking System for Long Island Facility
Published on September 30, 2026Centerport Yacht Club, situated just east of Huntington Bay on the north shore of Long Island, New York, recently underwent a series of upgrades aimed at helping the facility withstand the region’s harsh winter weather. The club required a docking system that could be removed during the winter months yet still meet the demands of heavy daily commercial-level use. Marina Technologies (MTI) provided its heavy-duty S222 aluminum extrusion docks to meet the demanding conditions of the Northeast while permitting seasonal removal. The aluminum frame docks and composite decking ensure a quality docking experience with corrosion and wear resistance to match the elements.
“They needed dock width for loading and offloading, utilities, durability for wave chop, ability to move cleats around, low-maintenance and visual appeal,” said Matt Outland, MTI’s project developer for the Northeast, “On top of that, everything needed to come out for the winter.”
Centerport Yacht Club has been a landmark waterfront institution since 1947, located on historic Northport Harbor in Centerport, New York.
