New Marina Under Construction in Alabama

Gulf Shores, Alabama, will soon be home to a new marina and accompanying upland development including 3,175 residential units and 240,000 square feet of restaurants, hotels and retail venues. Marina Technologies (MTI) was selected to construct Summerdance Marina, which will include 90 wet slips for vessels 40 to 80 feet in length. The project also includes a dry stack building designed to house 210 boats. MTI will also provide an aluminum-frame wave attenuator system on both sides of the marina entrance to ensure calm seas within. Anchored with 160-inch steel pipe piles, the wave attenuator is 12 feet wide with polymer wave panels that extend down to a draft of 24-inches.

“Our systems S-190 and D-260 will be used, which feature our heavy-duty single and double-track aluminum extrusions with thick-walled aluminum rectangular tubing for all beams and stringers,” said Bob Berry, project development manager at Marina Technologies. “The docks include sand colored grooved composite decking, large top-access utility troughs, 2×4-inch soft PVC fenders with full-length internal aluminum backing plates, 12-inch and 18-inch adjustable cleats with our unique mounting system, flexible/silent rubber dock connections and heavy-duty aluminum pile guides with rollers.”

MTI began fabrication of the system with installation slated for early 2026.
