New SF Marina Docking System for Baltimore City Fire Department
Published on June 27, 2025For well over 150 years, the Baltimore City Fire Department has been first on the scene during moments of crisis in the historic seafaring town. An integral part of the department, the Baltimore Marine Fire Rescue stands ready with a Class A fire boat and two Class C fire rescue vessels. The team quickly responded during the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in March 2024.
A new docking system from SF Marina has been installed to accommodate the fire department’s fleet of vessels, with room for growth. The new system incorporates SF Marina’s 1200 series floating concrete pontoons. Built to withstand the harshest elements of the Northeast winters, the docks have a low center of gravity for stability through wave action, with a low freeboard that allows easy boarding of the fleet’s smaller vessels. Locally owned and operated McLean Contracting installed the system, which includes dockside power and water, walkway lighting, heavy-duty galvanized cleats and a stainless steel cantilevered ramp system for docking of the fleet’s large Class A vessel. McLean also installed mooring dolphins that will allow for future expansion.
