NMMA Joins EPA’s Smart Sectors

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has joined a new partnership program between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and regulated industries called Smart Sectors.

The goal of the program is to build more open communication between regulators and the industries they regulate to achieve better environmental outcomes. The hope is to increase long-term certainty and predictability surrounding environmental protection actions.

The EPA will have ombudsmen representing the agency, its programs and regional offices. This staff will analyze data and advise on options for environmental improvements, host roundtables with EPA leadership, conduct educational site tours, develop reports and overall work to maintain open dialogue. Other industries participating include Agriculture, Automotive, Construction, Iron and Steel, Oil and Gas and more.

Smart Programs is located in the Office of Policy’s Immediate Office. More information can be found at www.epa.gov/smartsectors.
