NMRA and MMTA Collaborate to Address Workforce Needs

The National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) and Massachusetts Marine Trades Association (MMTA) have formed a strategic collaboration to address the worker shortage and educational needs of the marine industry. The organizations have agreed to a reciprocal exchange of memberships and to continue to promote the workforce development needs and potential solutions to meeting those needs for the recreational boating industry.

“Our organizations share a deep commitment to bringing talented young people into the marine trades,” said Neal Trombley, NMRA president. “We’re looking forward to working together to help the next generation discover rewarding, well-paying careers in the industry we love so much.”

The focus of the strategic collaboration is to bring the next generation of workers into the maritime trades, especially through their respective scholarship programs. Through its Massachusetts Marine Trades Educational Trust, MMTA offers the William Armstrong Scholarship Award in the amount of $1,500 and the NMRA offers a scholarship for $2,500. Both awards are for high school seniors or graduates pursuing education and a career in the recreational marine industry.
