Osprey Communities Purchases its First Marina

Osprey Communities purchased Fair Point Marina in Fair Haven, New York and Shady Shores RV Resort in Sterling, New York, the company’s first marina purchase. “These properties are situated right on Lake Ontario in a prime spot for boating and water sports,” said David Fisher, a member of the Osprey team. The two properties combined encompass 24 acres with water frontage on Lake Ontario, Little Sodus Bay, and Blind Sodus Bay. The marina includes 100 existing boat slips, indoor, and outdoor storage. An additional 40 slips are scheduled to open at Shady Shores in 2022. The two resorts offer 143 RV sites and on-site residence at Shady Shore. The resorts are run by one team of employees. The company plans to add a small gym, upgrade the laundry facility and the Wi-Fi service, remodel the bathhouse, and refresh all the buildings with a deep clean and new paint. Simply Marinas National Director George Ash brokered the sale, which closed on August 20.

Fisher said the company planned to close on a marina in California and one in Texas this fall, and two in the Carolinas after the first of the year. “We got into the marina business as a complementary offering to RV communities,” she said. All the marinas they are purchasing include an RV community with 100 sites.
