PIANC Announces Call for Abstracts for 2019 Conference

The PIANC-SMART Rivers 2019 Conference will take place in Lyon, France, from September 30 to October 3, 2019. A call for abstracts for the conference has been issued with a deadline of January 5.

PIANC-SMART Rivers 2019 is organized by the French Section of PIANC, which includes river and port infrastructure managers, engineering companies, contractors, transport companies and experts in maritime, port and river transportation. The conference, held every two years, brings together the international community to look at global trends in sustainable development of inland waterways and the supply of transport.

This year’s event will include technical short courses, plenary sessions, an exhibit hall and technical and cultural tours. The course themes are waterway infrastructure, water and sediment management, smart inland waterway transport, multimodality, innovation and future trends, and river induced land planning and development.

Conference organizers are accepting abstracts from those wanting to showcase their expertise and knowledge, while also raising the profile of their companies. Abstracts for both panel and poster sessions will be accepted. Abstracts must be written in English or French, be no more than 500 words, and should be based on the conference technical topics. Submit abstracts to www.smartrivers2019.com/call-for-abstracts/. Those selected by the review committee will need to prepare a short paper, poster or slide presentation.
