Register for Maryland’s First “State of the Coast” Conference

Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science are holding Maryland’s first State of the Coast Conference, May 21 to 23 at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, Maryland. The event is for local officials, business and industry leaders, resource stakeholders and users, scientists, and federal and state agency experts. Networking opportunities will be plentiful with a welcome reception, coastal heritage tour, sunset birding tour, and Brews & Bivalves reception, as well as lunches.

The sessions presented will include: Applying Stream Restoration Strategies as Part of a Watershed Implementation Plan; Oysters: A Powerful Tool for Bay Restoration and Local Economies; the “State of Maryland’s Coast” – the science, emerging threats and opportunities facing our coast; and trends and themes for Chesapeake and coastal management. In addition, there will be track sessions each day with the themes of Healthy Ecosystems, Resilient Communities and Vibrant Economies.
