RIMTA to Hold Its Annual Industry Partnership Breakfast at the Newport Boat Show

Rhode Island Marine Trades Association (RIMTA) is hosting its Annual Industry Partnership Breakfast during the Newport International Boat on September 15. The event, sponsored by the Gowrie Group, will feature a panel of industry leaders moderated by Dave McLaughlin, executive director of Clean Ocean Access. Panelists will include Evan Ridley of RIMTA, Jay Frechette of Starkweather & Shepley Insurance Brokerage, and Michelle Carnevale of 11th Hour Racing. The group will discuss environmental stewardship in general and specifically on fiberglass vessel recycling, environmental sustainability risks, and how the sailing and maritime communities can advance practices to protect the waters.

During the breakfast the 2018 Anchor Award will be given to Susan Maffei “Suma” Plowden for her role as stopover director for Volvo Ocean Race Newport.
