Scholarships Available from MTA/NJ

The Marine Trades Association of New Jersey (MTA/NJ) announced the availability of three Education Scholarships for the 2024-2025 school year. The MTA/NJ is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing, promoting, and protecting the recreational marine industry and the waterways in the State of New Jersey. These scholarships are open to any student interested in pursuing a career in the recreational boating industry and who meets the criteria outlined. The following is an overview of the scholarships:

  • Boating Industry Scholarship: Two $1,500 scholarships awarded to two graduating students who have a strong desire to succeed in a recreational boating industry vocational, technical or college program.
  • Automotive Training Center: This is a half scholarship ($10,950) for the Marine Service Technology Program at Automotive Training Center in Pennsylvania.

Marine technicians continue to be in high demand and there are many full-time year-round job opportunities available. A wide range of challenges and hands-on careers already exist in the boating industry, and this could be the perfect path for students in need of something different.

Information about these scholarships, including an overview of the application process, the applications, and recommendation forms for the guidance counselor and other faculty are available online at mtanj.org/scholarships. Scholarship application due date is April 1.
