SOBA Presents Award to Congressman Graves

The States Organization for Boating Access (SOBA) presented its annual 2018 Congressional Award to Congressman Garret Graves, (R—LA). The award was presented by SOBA President Scott Meister during this year’s American Boating Congress.

The SOBA executive board awards this honor to a member of Congress or state representative who has made significant contributions to public boating access in their state or throughout the United States.  

Congressman Graves, a member of the Congressional Boating Caucus, sits on the House Committees on Transportation and Infrastructure and Natural Resources. He is the Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment, which oversees water resources development and regulatory programs administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Environmental Protection Agency, along with other agencies and water-related programs. Graves has also provided support for the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund, which provides money for boating infrastructure and access.

Past recipients of SOBA’s award include: 2017 – Senator Tim Scott (R-SC); 2016 – Senator John Thune (R-SD) and Congresswoman Lois Frankel (D-FL.); 2015 – Congressman Rob Wittman (R-VA); 2014 – Congressmen Bill Shuster (R-PA) and former Congressman Nick Rahall II (D-WV.).
