South Carolina Will Host a Boating Infrastructure Grant Workshop

This South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hosting a Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) Workshop on March 20 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The program will inform those wanting to apply for the grant, the goals of the grant, eligibility, deadlines and allowable projects.

The DNR administers the BIG program in South Carolina in partnership with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. BIG provides funding to construct, renovate and maintain tie-up facilities for transient boaters in vessels 26 feet or more in length. Examples of eligible infrastructure that may be funded include floating docks, fixed piers, breakwaters, fueling stations and dockside utilities.

The workshop will be held at the DNR’s Marine Center located at Ft. Johnson in Charleston, South Carolina. There is no charge for the workshop, but registration is required by visiting this site.

Participants are asked to review the published rules and requirements of the program prior to the workshop. Information can be found here.
