Suntex Acquires Caloosa Cove

Suntex Marina Investors LLC, located in Texas, has bought Caloosa Cove Marina in the Florida Keys. Caloosa Cove is located in Islamorada, just over one hour east of Key West and two hours south of Miami, on a 15-acre site. The marina has 32 wet slips that can handle yachts up to 65ft in length and 88 dry slips that can accommodate vessels up to 34ft in length. Approximately 76 of the dry slips are protected by a hurricane-rated barn.

Additionally, the site has a general and ship’s store, roadside and marina gasoline, an ocean-view restaurant, and a resort including 30 apartment-style accommodations with views of the ocean and marina.

“This acquisition offers Suntex with an exceptional chance to further extend our holdings in the Florida Keys and our presence in the South Florida market,” says David Filler, Suntex Marinas’ head of investments. “The marina is a first-class facility with a complete complement of amenities that fits our collection of other iconic, first-class properties.”

The transaction comes on the heels of the company’s purchase of Faro Blanco Marina in Marathon, another Florida Keys community. Suntex has been aggressive in its acquisitions since then, most notably acquiring Seahaven Marina in Dania Beach.
