The MIASF Releases 2020 Economic Impact Numbers

Despite unique challenges across the board in 2020, Florida’s marine industry remained an essential and growing component of the state’s overall economy, according to the latest data released by the Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF).

Boasting a total output of over $24.6 billion across the state, the marine industry was responsible for more than 270,000 thousand jobs throughout Florida in 2020. Broward County, considered the refit and repair capital of the world, remained the statewide industry leader, representing 121,000 jobs with wages 16% higher than the state average, and $9.7 billion in output. Together with Palm Beach and Dade counties, the tri-county area was responsible for 149,000 marine industry jobs and more than one-half the state’s total output in 2020.
