Upgrades at Hilton Fort Lauderdale
Published on January 14, 2024Guests of the Hilton Hotel and Marina in Fort Lauderdale can now enjoy a state-of-the-art docking system thanks to the recent work of Marina Technologies (MTI) and B&M Marine Construction. The new marina opened last October with 21 slips for vessels up to 65’ in length. The new MTI System S222 is aluminum framed with composite decking, adjustable & removable cleats, heavy-duty PVC rub-rail with unique internal aluminum backing plate, large PVC corner bumpers, and internal pile guides with rollers. New 12” steel piles were installed as well as a new concrete seawall. The seawall cap elevation was raised 6” and new aluminum gangways with unique sliding mounts installed, to handle the water level rise from lunar high tides.
The modern system replaced the marina’s original fixed timber docks. “The old fixed-docks were tired, required frequent maintenance, and made accessing vessels difficult – especially at low tide,” said Kevin Quirk, owner of US Marina Group who manages the marina for the hotel. The ribbon-cutting on the new docks took place just in time for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show at the end of October.
