WaveEater™ Model 4870
Published on October 24, 2025Model 4870 (patented) is a new modification of WaveEater’s floating breakwater system. The Model 4870 has a unique sub-wall that is ballasted with small aggregate and water to allow dissipation of underwater wave energy. Incorporated into the waffle design are 12 openings to allow for water circulation, thereby mitigating algae and other sediment buildup. The breakwater is constructed of linear low-density molded polyethylene with a high-density polyethylene tubular core and a hollow interior, which is filled with water at installation until the units are two-thirds submerged. The exterior has a series of baffles that agitate back and forth as the waves strike the system
