Wisconsin Marine Association Announces Fall Conference Agenda

The Wisconsin Marine Association’s fall conference, “Cruising Into the Next Decade,” will be held November 20 to 21 in Wausau, Wisconsin.

The event is a celebration of the association’s accomplishments over its first 10 years as well as a chance for marinas, dealers, suppliers, retailers and manufacturers to hear from presenters on timely and important issues and strategies for their businesses.

Topics at the conference include:

  • How keep online and “big box” shopping opportunities from stealing your retail store sales.
  • How to deal with tripping ground fault breakers after updating to new NEC ground fault standards.
  • Round table discussion about high water levels and how to prevent winter damage to docks and piers.
  • How to market to millennials.
  • How to prevent problems and liabilities from employee drug use.
  • The latest information on fuel issues
  • How to find your tribe and targeting your marketing.
  • How to take control of your day and transform challenges into opportunities.
  • Department of Tourism programs to support recreational boating and marine businesses.

On Wednesday morning a Clean Marina workshop will be held focusing on variety of topics related to aquatic invasive species including, how they spread through time, new EPA ballast water rules and regulations. After the presentations, a Clean Marina Working Lunch will be held where the technical team will be on-hand to assist marinas interested in, just starting out, or in the middle of the certification process. There will also be information sharing opportunities for certified marinas looking to discuss overcoming BMP implementation challenges or ask questions about state rules and regulations.
