KIDS in BOATING Grant Applications Now Being Accepted

The Massachusetts Marine Trades Educational Trust (MMTET) KIDS in BOATING initiative has re-opened its grant application for a second year. The grant applications must be received by June 30 with awards distributed in July. The Massachusetts Marine Trades Association (MMTA) and the MMTET created their KIDS in BOATING initiative in 2017 to help support nonprofit youth boating programs in Massachusetts that work to get more kids on the water. Preference is given to MMTA members and organizations with creative new ideas and programs.

“Recognizing the fact that the boating industry is aging, the more we can do today to get more young people involved in recreational boating, the better off our industry will be tomorrow,” said Randall Lyons, MMTA executive director and founder of KIDS in Boating in a statement.

In 2017, KIDS in BOATING awarded 11 grants ranging from $500 to $1,500 each and totaling approximately $11,000. Sponsors of the program include 3A Marine, Robalo Boats, MyTaskit, Hingman Shipyard Marinas and Newburyport Marinas.

MMTET and MMTA also encourage grant applicants and everyone in the marine trades in Massachusetts to participate in events for KIDS Boating Day, held June 2 to 10. For more information click here.
