MTA/NJ Holds Fundraisers for Scholarships and Advocacy

The Marine Trade Association of New Jersey’s (MTA/NJ) 23rd Annual Invitational Golf Outing took place on October 8 at Sea Oaks Country Club in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. The proceeds from the outing benefit the MTA/NJ Education Foundation.

The event featured warm-up tips with the pro, live music, on-course contests and a chance to win the MTA/NJ Golf Cup.

Since 2006, the MTA/NJ Foundation has awarded nearly $25,000 to deserving students looking to begin careers in the industry, to members through the MTA/NJ Family Scholarship and for outstanding student awards to students enrolled in marine trades vocational programs.

In addition to scholarships, the MTA/NJ Foundation has provided an additional $10,000 toward marine education and training for members, including marine training reimbursements, industry certification courses, and education and training in the classroom and on the job for members and their employees covering several areas.

To add money to the association’s Political Action Committee (PAC) the MTA/NJ Walt Johnson III Memorial Shoot off is being held on November 12 at Red Wing Sporting Clays Facility in Port Republic, New Jersey.

Proceeds from the event will support the MTA/NJ PAC, which is a non-partisan, non-profit political action committee. The PAC was formed to raise voluntary contributions to support candidates for state and local elective offices who share boating concerns and are committed to supporting recreational boating businesses. Through this fund the MTA/NJ has been able to stop, move and pass legislation; has significantly increased awareness of the importance of boating to the state and economy; and expanded its list of key contacts which have spawned positive results for the industry.
